Minneapolis, Minnesota — Torev Founder and CEO Rory Brogan won 3rd place at the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Technology Transitions (OTT) Energy Program for Innovation Clusters (EPIC) pitch competition in Minneapolis on Wednesday. The pitch competition was an event at the 2024 DOE Small Business Forum & Expo, and the award Torev received includes a prize of $20,000 of non-dilutive funds.
The DOE Small Business Forum & Expo is designed to connect small and innovative businesses with the Department of Energy’s program offices, laboratory and technology centers, and prime contractors to help advance the DOE’s missions. Torev was nominated to compete in this year’s EPIC pitch competition by Adam Sledd of the Dominion Energy Innovation Center.
Mr. Brogan commented, “This award from the EPIC competition plays a more important role than just cash: it further deepens Torev’s relationship with DOE and also the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), both of which have proven to be invaluable partners in supporting our product development and go to market efforts. We are very grateful to the DOE Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, OTT, and NREL for hosting us at the competition and to the judges for their vote of confidence.”
